Care
The material lasts for decades: it doesn’t rot or swell, and it can be restored by sanding. Here’s how to look after it.
1. Everyday cleaning
A microfibre cloth and a neutral cleaner — all-purpose or an ammonia-free glass cleaner. Wipe stains straight away with a cream cleaner, without pressing hard.
2. Stains
A little cream cleaner on a damp, not wet, cloth; leave it for a few minutes, wipe without pressing hard, rinse with clean water and dry. Test any new cleaner on an inconspicuous spot first.
3. Stubborn stains
Grease and oil: a degreaser and a microfibre cloth. Fresh coffee and tea: warm water and microfibre, then a cream cleaner. Hair dye and iodine: straight away, with microfibre and warm water. Turmeric and paprika can leave a mark on light colours — sanding removes it.
4. Avoid
Acetone, white spirit, petrol and other solvents; alcohol stronger than 70%; bleach and ammonia. Keep away from direct heat sources. Under constant direct sun the shade may change over time.
Acids — vinegar, citric acid, limescale removers. Glass cleaners containing ammonia. Hard scourers, steel wool and scrapers. Pressure washers and steam.
5. Water
Doesn’t absorb water, swell or rot — fine for kitchens and wet areas.
6. Scratches
They sand out: a random-orbit sander, P120 up to P2000, without overheating one spot.
Light, even pressure, circular movements, section by section, from coarse grit to fine. A belt sander isn’t suitable: it overheats and melts the surface.
7. Chips
A small chip is filled with superglue (cyanoacrylate, without an activator) slightly proud of the surface, then sanded flush with P600 → P800 once dry.
8. Pattern
The flecks fall differently every time, so every sheet’s pattern is unique. It isn’t a defect.
9. Storing sheets
A dry, covered space out of the sun and without temperature swings. Lying flat on full support, or standing on the long edge against a wall, with nothing on top. Before machining, give the sheets 12–24 hours to acclimatise to the room.
10. Made of
Sheets: 100% recycled polystyrene (rPS), pressed from granules.
11. End of life
We take clean panels back and recycle them into new sheets.
